Mary Jo Obbema became licensed to practice law in the State of Texas in July 2021. She is originally from Southern California with over 17 years of legal experience in matters related to finance, insurance, and regulatory compliance. Before moving to Texas in June 2018, she spent eight years in the California Workers’ Compensation industry, where she honed her skills in legal writing and research, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation. Ms. Obbema ran her own business for five years, working with doctors, pharmacies, and other small business healthcare entities to settle and negotiate their medical liens. She then switched sides and worked with insurance companies to settle medical liens and defend against fraudulent claims. Mary Jo specializes in contract disputes, debt collection, and real estate law. She has a BA from the University of Southern California in Political Science and a Juris Doctor from Whittier Law School.
